Give Time. Change Lives.

180 volunteers and 55 foster homes around Spring power everything we do. Whether you have two hours a month or twenty a week, there's a job here with your name on it.

Volunteer

Roles for Every Talent

  • Dog walking & playgroups — daily exercise and enrichment
  • Cat care & socialization — cuddles are literally the job
  • Adoption ambassadors — help visitors find their match
  • Clinic assistants — check-in, recovery monitoring, laundry brigades
  • Events crew — setup, registration, and photo booths
  • Behind the scenes — photography, vet-run driving, admin help
  • From home — adoption follow-up calls, social media, and grant research, on your own schedule

Volunteers must be 16+ (12+ with a participating adult). After applying you'll be invited to a one-hour orientation, in person or over video, then train directly in the roles you choose.

Court-Ordered & Group Service

We accept community-service placements for non-violent, non-animal-related cases, and we host corporate and club groups of up to 15 — contact our volunteer office to schedule.

Volunteer Application

Once you apply, we'll email you the next available orientation dates.

Application received! Watch your inbox for orientation dates. We can't wait to meet you. 🤝

Foster program

Be a Halfway Home

Fosters are the difference between surviving and thriving for bottle-fed kittens, recovering surgery patients, and shy dogs who shut down in kennels.

We supply everything — food, crates, litter, vet care, and a foster coordinator who answers her phone at odd hours. You supply the couch and the love. Assignments range from a weekend "sleepover" to eight weeks for neonatal litters, and you'll never be pressured to extend.

  • All supplies and medical care covered by the shelter
  • Choose the species, age, and duration that fits your life
  • Foster-to-adopt option if you fall in love (it happens a lot)
  • Fosters within about a 30-minute drive, so vet runs stay easy
